Toiling in obscurity

"If the savior of the world saw fit to toil in working-class obscurity for thirty years before embarking on his cosmos-changing mission, it probably won’t hurt you to spend a bit more time forming your intellect and character before you’re ready to make your mark on the culture"

The concept of substitution (deep!)

The concept of substitution may be said to lie at the heart of both sin and salvation. For the essence of sin is man substituting himself for God, while the essence of salvation is God substituting Himself for man. Man asserts himself against God and puts himself where only God deserves to be; God sacrifices Himself for man and puts Himself were only man deserves to be. Man claims prerogatives which belong to God alone; God accepts penalties which belong to man alone.

Life's small victories

I write most often about plans, aspirations and attitudes for the future in my personal diary. Failures and setbacks serve as reminders of either what could've been done better or of what not to do again. The things least documented are life's victories, big or small. From now on, I shall endeavour to record them too.

So I shall start with this one: I got a job! Cong's deacon has agreed to take me in. Pay is what you would expect for a graduate architect, but it's not the main point of the story. What will really count is the experience gained in designing a house and getting the plans approved by the council. Now that would be something worth putting in a resume. Not some dead end job that pays well.

To God be the glory!
